Night Thoughts I
I overhear two nurses
talking about veganism
and the problems therein.
"The problem," says the first,
a tall man in his thirties,
"is that vegan meat substitute
has an identical structure
to human flesh, and once you get the taste
it becomes insatiable
and never goes away."
His friend nods in agreement,
looks at her watch
finishes her drink
and quietly leaves.
He's not entirely wrong --
Vegan meats are made of mushrooms
and fungi are closer to human
than they are to plants.
