Recession
She stares at an indigo pool
of partially-congealed blood
that fills a shadowed tray
of November rust.
A tiny ocean, with
the meniscus punctuated
by a carnival of honey flecks
like the scatterings of a dandelion clock
and an archipelago
of roadside gravel.
She lifts her head and howls,
looking to the tree:
a congregation of one
to the numinous murmur of insects
and the anatomy of her beloved cat
displayed in flesh and nails
and a notice of foreclosure.

Beautiful.
Thanks steph :)
Gruesome but beautiful.
Thank you.
I hope I don't upset any readers.
No, sad and horrifying but superb Rach.
Looking at the countdown widget...
Thanks Gina :)
Nathalie - eek! less than an hour to go. There's a package from Amazon with Luisa's name on it - is it my book, I wonder?
But now it is more than 2 hours?
Oy!
somebody stop playing around with time!
+3 hours and book still not available! Gah!
Widget removed.
But the funny thing is that in the page area for "people who bought this book also bought", Amazon suggests:
"Two Knotty Boys Showing You the Ropes: A Step-By-Step, Illustrated Guide for Tying Sensual and Decorative Rope Bondage".
Oh, Dogs! I know.
That's put a couple of people off, thinking AUC is a sex book.
I'm hoping other people buy it and get that link changed.
Well, I did not want to wait anymore so I ordered it (with a DVD of Wallace and Grommit and another book) so maybe it will change.
I wanted to wait to order until it was listed as available since these orders are often processed quicker than the pre-sales ones but it seems the publisher is a wee bit late (they usually are).
Alas, I'm not sure what's happening :(
