as the winds howls through the garden
I pull on a sweater

She attacks the dog in protest
(blind and deaf Jack)

I ask the teacher
if he still wants me as a student

he seems to barely tolerate me
avoids speaking except to teach
openly dismissive

he replies 'yes'
