Michael was a gifted child
in that, his parents doted on him
and their house had carpets
and central heating
and plenty to eat and drink.
His dad collected boardgames
and we played a variety I'd never seen.
French games, British, American.
I learned the topography of London
and the most exclusive streets of Paris,
and how to run a railroad through the lands
belonging to Native Americans, ripping
up burial grounds and killing Bison
and the one take-away for adult life:
free parking
doesn't mean you take the money
