morning fog
occluding the townscape
winter blessings

Basic tracksuit in five-XL
ends halfway dow my forearms
and leaves my wrists exposed
to show off an expensive watch
I wouldn't ever buy.
I could never wear watches
something about my pulse sent them loopy
and my parents despaired
of my being on time.
In the decades before mobile phones
everyone wore a watch
except for the red-haired kid
with the huge leather satchel
who the teachers were purposely kind to
because they were perpetually bullied.
