lightening sky
as the dawn chorus breaks
a short walk

all those tins
screws, bolts, hinges
bits for cars and bikes;
bits for the greenhouse;
bits of tools and appliances
that might come in handy.
My dad was a hoarder
but this was in the days of local shops
and having to travel for an hour
to buy a packet of washers.
No Amazon then;
no next-day delivery, order from home.
So why do I need all these boxes
of 'in case I need it'?
I don't, do I?
Like my father, I am a hoarder.
