dreary day
the dog gets me up at six
goes back to sleep

spring has truly arrived
with the morning greetings of magpie
and crow.
when the allium ursinum blooms;
picking the sharp, garlicky flowers
an we walk through the wooded land
that winds between two housing plots
on the lookout for cats and squirrels
among the morning greetings of magpie
and crow.
I am the picked wild garlic
headless, without an offspring
for the next generation;
no-one to mourn me
but the morning greetings of magpie
and crow.
