I never aspired to be an old lady
but embraced my youth
and the pleasures of the flesh.
In time, all things fell away
until there is only the core of me;
the same me I was when I was twenty
or thirty
but different to when I was twelve
or sixteen.
In my youth I was angry;
in age I am content
