appear in my memory box.
"Who is that?" I ask aloud
staring at the image of a man
in his elder teens, smiling,
holding a certificate.
"That's your brother," she says
but I never had a brother;
not alive, not dead.
Am I misremembering,
is she making it all up, or
is this the Mandela effect;
an alternate timeline where the past
does not align with our memories.
