I didn't know you could get drunk
from drinking wine - I'd had it all my life
in small sherry glasses,
especially after midnight mass on Christmas Eve -
so when it was served free,
at the Queen's Silver Jubilee street party,
I had a full glass on everything on offer
and my poor mother
had the scrub the carpets afterward.
