I never told you
I was in love with you
until it was far too late
but I was still happy you'd found someone else
and when I came to see you
(was it a whole decade later)
you'd left a note on the door
to say you didn't want to meet.
I still think about you
after thirty-odd years
and a couple of normal ones.
