Good Grief Christina (1973)
I saved my pocket money every week
in a massive plastic piggy bank I bought
from a jumble sale the village hall would keep
on Saturdays where Guides and Scouts were taught.
My mother bought her clothes from there and mine
when she was able, while ran to the stalls
which sold the broken toys and toys to find
something to occupy when loneliness would call.
But one week I asked instead for comics;
a Beano or a Bunty from the shop;
a revolving rack of records soundly sonic
brought me to a still and sudden stop.
There I bought my first single record ever
but my sister let me use her player never.
