On a Return from the Continent
a foggy drive across the Dordogne moors
at six AM to board the early plane
and thou hath never trod this land before
thou vows to travel to this town again.
Though mayhap it will take thee quite some time
to build up funds thou dost need to return
thou hast shed tears for she thou left behind
and for her now a steady flame will burn.
But not th'art back in Merry England here
the cleanliness of France left far behind
and though shall walk thy dogs on streets of fear
where racist flags proclaim the common mind.
For thou will tread for now these roads of trash
whilst though build up some small reserves of cash.
