Strolling through the weekly village market
in admiration of the wares on sale
while people chat and local dogs are barking
the cashpoint errors make for money fail.
A pretty poppy brooch he bought for Mother
and coffee break with pasties freshly made
among the shops set next to one another
while in the square a watery cascade.
Olives and tomato for consumption
Porcini mushrooms taken home to cook
Gala apples (one has for them, compulsion)
we skip the stall which sells only one book.
Alas, Serrano ham ignited DK furies
sliced thick and charged him twenty-four euros
