spring heatmelting away the frost
dog's paws

his bed
unused for two weeks
as he lounges in isolation
solitude
the one thing he craves
has become his enemy.
No theatre trips
because the theatres are closed
no visiting allowed
because visiting is banned.
We say hello from the doorway.
Offer thoughts and smiles.
Cups of tea and coffee
but we have to wash the germs away
afterwards.
