howling wind, driving rain
The dog at the open back door
stays inside

Mum said I could have fireworks
or a new toy from the shop
in the corner of the square.
I chose the toy but walked three miles
to the top of the Lickey Hills
and watched the golf club display
where all the posh folk from Barnt Green
displayed their affluence
behind locked gates.
