why does a packaged salad
go off after six hours
when the individual items will last a week?
Lettuce stays fresh, even if the outside leaves
already resemble compost
and tomatoes become sweetest
just before they rot.
Spring onions do...whatever they do#
and carrots stay fresh for a fortnight.
But the supermarket salad I bought?
It's disgusting by lunchtime.
